I consider my metal work a “Resurgence” series because it features sculptures created solely from scrap metal, discarded components and products of our society. Each sculpture is of a unique nature because the design is influenced by the salient traits of the materials used. Certain attributes, such as a sharp angle of a chair arm or the curve of a wheel arch, help determine the visual flow of the piece. The purpose of each piece is to enable the audience to view the discarded metals in a new way by transforming it into a identifiable form. They attempt to reinforce the idea that any material can go through a metamorphosis or “Resurgence” and become contrary to its formal existence.
