Since 2007, my work has been focused on several different mediums, but the one that stood out most substantially was metal sculpture. My work has been focused around the development of pieces through the use of found materials. The metal work is considered a “Resurgence” series because it features sculptures created completely from the refuge and waste-the by-products-of today’s society. It has been said that today, much of contemporary society is guided by the norms of a “disposable “mentality. Products are developed with a short life expectancy and built-in obsolescence, and this adds to a high rate of garbage. Although many products do get recycled, there are still great amounts that are treated as waste, left to slowly populate landfills and garbage dumps. While these materials come from all areas of human waste, in this particular series I focus primarily on sculptures composed of scrap metal.
